Norman Music Festival

Music Adventure

Tap your toes to the bouncing beat of a banjo.

Lean back in your seat and surrender yourself to the pounding of a bass drum.

Push your way through the crowd to get face-to-face with your favorite local band, blissfully staring in surreal contentment.

Oklahoma’s melodies are about more than just the wind sweeping down the plains. Today’s music scene grew out of honky-tonk dance halls, out of divine church pews and the clutter of parents’ garages where the ghosts of notes past still linger.

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. – Victor Hugo, 1864, William Shakespeare

Ode to Joy

We all have that song that takes us back. That song that, when heard through the chatter of a diner or over the loudspeakers at a football game, transports you to a moment that has been forever cemented in memory.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. On some nights I still believe that a car with the needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. – Hunter S. Thompson

Set the Tone

Now it’s time to make new melodies and memories.

Feel your fingertips pluck the guitar’s cold metal strings onstage at Norman Music Festival.

Experience your heartbeat syncing with the rhythm of a DJ’s beats in the Plaza District.

See how the lines between bluegrass and blues blur at the American Banjo Museum.

Sink deep into the lushness of the grass and the fresh summer air, the sounds of an outdoor concert soaring around you.

Face the Music

Your journey through the sounds of Oklahoma is just ahead. Spin the wheel, pick a point and get started.
