When visiting Sulphur, Oklahoma, be sure to plan a trip to scenic Veterans Lake, located in the western portion of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area (CNRA). Tucked away and often overlooked, the lake offers perfect opportunities for small boat use, fishing, hiking and picnicking.

The 67-acre lake, named in honor of American war veterans, was built in 1933 and became part of CNRA 50 years later. Veterans Lake features three miles of shoreline, a boat ramp, boat dock, fishing dock and picnic areas with grills.
