The Chickasaw National Capitol is situated in Capitol Square in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, the Nation's historic capital city. Constructed in April 1898, the stately structure was built of red granite from the nearby quarry of former Chickasaw Nation Governor Robert Harris. The 8,000-square-foot, two-story structure functioned as the seat of the tribe's government until Oklahoma achieved statehood in 1907.

Today, the Chickasaw National Capitol building serves as a museum and a great reminder of the fight that the Chickasaw people put forth for their tribal identity and independence. Admission to the museum is free. Guided tours are available, and large groups are required to make reservations in advance.
