The Oklahoma City Ballet's roots lie in 1963, when Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo dancers Yvonne Chouteau and Miguel Terekhov founded the Oklahoma City Civic Ballet company. Today, the Oklahoma City Ballet's repertory includes works by 20th century masters like George Balanchine and Twyla Tharp, premier contemporaries like Stanton Welch and Amy Seiwert, as well as full-length productions of such classics as "Swan Lake," "Romeo and Juliet" and "The Nutcracker."

Students who train in the company's Dance Center of Oklahoma City Ballet are regularly accepted into summer sessions and advanced classes at some of the most prestigious ballet companies in the country, while others move up in the Oklahoma City Ballet as professional dancers in the company.
