Opened in 2013, the Chickasaw Visitor Center was created to be an informational resource and gateway to the nearby Chickasaw National Recreation Area, where top attractions included Little Niagara Falls, Veterans Lake, Lake of the Arbuckles and Oka' Chokmasi pocket park. Made of native stone, glass and copper, the center can be found at the intersection of S.H. 7 and U.S. 177, close by the Artesian Hotel. The 8,500-square-foot split-level structure features information about Chickasaw Country destinations and lodging options, interactive kiosks, a multi-purpose gallery, media room, public restrooms, free coffee and a gift shop featuring Chickasaw and Native American Art. The building also functions as a space to showcase the work of Chickasaw artists. Featured exhibits rotate on a regular basis, and there is also a permanent and prominent wall sculpture by Chickasaw artist Paul Moore.
